Coming Soon! 2019 Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Slate

Going to the movies has been a lifelong passion for me, and one I?m thrilled to pass on to my children.

The 2019 Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture slate of movies is chock full of shows that look perfect for kids of all ages- and I can?t wait to see them all on the big screen in 2019.

But I confess that I have my favorites, of course! Here’s what we have to look forward to in 2019 from Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Captain Marvel Opens On March 8, 2019

First up on the 2019 Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Slate is one I’m crazily excited over.

Real talk: I’m (still!!!) over here rocking in a corner over the ending of Avengers: Infinity War and that mid-credit scene from Ant-Man and the Wasp. You know the ones I mean.

Way to punch the entire world right in the gut, Marvel. #Ouch

If you still need to catch up on your superheroes, check out the Marvel Movies in Order list for your next Marvel Movie Marathon.

So I’m 100% ready for the HER in HERO to show up and hopefully kick some Thanos booty later this year.

Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers, comes to the MCU on March 8, 2019.

Captain Marvel Suit

She’s going to meet up with some favorites of mine, the guys from S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Nick Fury & Agent Phil Coulson, and I think she’s totally going to hold her own when it comes to taking care of business.

Just a hunch, I mean, she’s not even letting old people get away with stuff!

As a mom of superhero loving two girls, I cannot wait for them to (FINALLY) see female title character from Marvel. This is exactly what we need in 2019- okay, to be fair, we needed it since like 1992. But better late than never.

From Marvel:

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios? ?Captain Marvel? is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe?s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

Marvel Studios? CAPTAIN MARVEL opens on March 8, 2019, in U.S. theaters. #CaptainMarvel

Dumbo Opens on March 29, 2019

So Disney really wants me sobbing this year, apparently. Because if any movie is going to do it: it’s Dumbo.

Well, at least until they do something terrible to my Captain America in Avengers: Endgame (but we’ll get to that in a minute!).

Look how stinking cute they made this live-action elephant!

live action DUMBO
EARS TO YOU ? In Disney?s all-new, live-action feature film ?Dumbo,? a newborn elephant with oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But Dumbo takes everyone by surprise when they discover he can fly. Directed by Tim Burton, ?Dumbo? flies into theaters on March 29, 2019. ?2018 Disney Enterprises, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

I mean… I how adorable is this little guy?! And the movie looks gorgeous so far.

But the cast? Oh, MY, y’all. This one is stuffed with talent.

From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure ?Dumbo? expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.

Penguins Opens on April 17, 2019

My oldest son has been obsessed with penguins since he was a baby; clearly, this one is on our list of must-see movies from the 2019 Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Slate.

It’s not often that a 16-year-old asks his mom to take him to the movies (like, not just drop him off but actually GO to the movie with him!) so this date is circled on our calendar at home.

And I’m sure I’ll cry for a variety of reasons. Starting with how stinking cute these little guys are!

Disneynature “Penguins”

Disneynature?s all-new feature film ?Penguins? is a coming-of-age story about an Ad?lie penguin named Steve who joins millions of fellow males in the icy Antarctic spring on a quest to build a suitable nest, find a life partner and start a family. None of it comes easily for him, especially considering he’s targeted by everything from killer whales to leopard seals, who unapologetically threaten his happily ever after. From the filmmaking team behind ?Bears? and ?Chimpanzee,? Disneynature?s ?Penguins? opens in theaters nationwide in time for Earth Day 2019.

Avengers: Endgame Opens on April 26, 2019

Oh Boy, this is THE big one in the 2019 Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Slate. At least for Marvel fans like me.

What do we know about Avengers: Endgame? Welp… not a whole lot.

And that’s the way Marvel likes it. Man, they sure do know how to build up the hype (and that’s the way *I* like it so I’m ok with this!).

Avengers: Endgame movie poster

But we’ve got a title now- and a hashtag #AvengersEndgame, so that’s a start. And we know that Scott got the van- say this in Luis’ voice, please!– and that Scott escaped the Quantum Realm.

Oh, and that Tony Stark is in a very dark place. I’m not a huge Iron Man fan, but dang it, Marvel, making me have feelings over this scene!

So, yeah, I think this is going to be Walt Disney Studios movie number 3 out of 4 that makes me cry. And we’re only to April.

Side note: if you are new-ish to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I’m here to get you all on my level!

Guys, I am H E R E for live-action Aladdin.

I know, I know, there’s all kinds of drama and excuses on why people think this one isn’t going to be great.

But I have faith in both the story, the songs, and the actors involved. WILL SMITH IS AMAZING AND DON’T TRY TO TELL ME ANY DIFFERENT. He’s going to make a great Genie (and he’s going to be blue when he’s in Genie form, no worries!).

It doesn’t hurt that I have a special place in my heart for this original movie; I call Aladdin my gateway movie to Disney.

But honestly, look at how gorgeous this movie looks, guys!

The film stars Will Smith (?Ali,? ?Men in Black?) as the larger-than-life Genie; Mena Massoud (?Tom Clancy?s Jack Ryan?) as the charming scoundrel Aladdin; Naomi Scott (?Power Rangers?) as Jasmine, the beautiful self-determined princess; Marwan Kenzari (?Murder on the Orient Express?) as Jafar, the powerful sorcerer; Navid Negahban (?Legion?) as the Sultan concerned with his daughter?s future; Nasim Pedrad (?Saturday Night Live?) as Dalia, Princess Jasmine?s free-spirited best friend and confidante; Billy Magnussen (?Into the Woods?) as the handsome and arrogant suitor Prince Anders; and Numan Acar (?The Great Wall?) as Hakim, Jafar?s right-hand man and captain of the palace guards.

Toy Story 4 Opens on June 21, 2019

Annnddd…

I’m crying again. Because it’s Pixar, so of course I am.

But it’s Toy Story Pixar which means there’s no chance at all that I make it through this one without big, mega tears falling.

Toy Story is one of those franchises that has been part of my every being as a parent and as a Disney lover.

You’ve got a friend in me? Absolutely.

I even dressed up as Woody with my bestie as Buzz for the opening of Toy Story Land in Walt Disney World

Yes, we’re a little ridiculous. (But a heck of a lot of fun! Hang out with us!)

TOY STORY 4
NEW TOY? ? Everyone?s favorite pull-string cowboy sheriff Woody, along with his best friends Buzz Lightyear and Jessie, are happy taking care of their kid, Bonnie, until a new toy called ?Forky? arrives in her room. According to Forky, a spork-turned-craft-project, he?s not a toy at all?and he?d rather skip this big adventure completely, if only they?d let him. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack return as the voices of Woody, Buzz and Jessie, and comedian Tony Hale lends his voice to Forky. Directed by Josh Cooley (?Riley?s First Date??) and produced by Jonas Rivera (?Inside Out,? ?Up?) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer ?Inside Out?), ?Toy Story 4? ventures to U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019. ?2018 Disney?Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that?s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called ?Forky? to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy. Directed by Josh Cooley (?Riley?s First Date??) and produced by Jonas Rivera (?Inside Out,? ?Up?) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer ?Inside Out?).

Lion King Poster 2019

Lion King came out when my son, Jacob, was just a little guy. And it was his go-to movie when he was sick; so it’s one of those “momma has feelings” movies. We watched a lot of Lion King, guys.

I cannot get over how precious baby Simba is here.

And while I’m not sure I totally understand the “live-action” in this CGI movie, I know I’m going to be taking the whole family to this one.

Artemis Fowl Opens August 9, 2019

If you said, Artemis Fowl who? Parents: go ask your kids!

Because trust me, they know these books and are going to want to see this movie.

The buzz in the Artemis Fowl fandom hyped up when the teaser trailer came out and I know it peeked a lot of people’s interest in this next installment on the 2019 Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Slate.

Start reading the books and you’ll be hyped, too! The stories are great fun, fast-paced, and full of mystery and magic.

I love them, and I’m way past the target age on this one!

Disney?s ?Artemis Fowl,? based on the beloved book by Eoin Colfer, is a fantastical, spellbinding adventure that follows the journey of 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, as he seeks to find his father who has mysteriously disappeared.

With the help of his loyal protector Butler, Artemis sets out to find him, and in doing so uncovers an ancient, underground civilization?the amazingly advanced world of fairies.

Deducing that his father?s disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive, reclusive fairy world, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan?so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.

Frozen 2 Opens November 22, 2019

For the First Time in Forever, we have a new Frozen movie on the books and it’s the Thanksgiving movie on the 2019 Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Slate. (Okay, groan if you must, but, hey, you knew I wouldn’t Let It Go, right?)

And why would you want Disney to? It’s Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad all coming back in their original roles.

I think parents can agree that if Frozen is going to take over our lives (again) then at least we get the OG cast!

We still don’t have a title, but honestly, I don’t care what they call it, I just want to see these two interacting again because they are #friendgoals

I can’t help but hum the Imperial March as I write this one. Because that’s pretty much all I’ve got to share on the last movie in the 2019 Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Slate.

What we know: nothing. Zip, Zilch, Nada.
