Age Rating For Andor: Is It Safe For Teens When It Comes To Sex, Romance, and Nudity?
As with most of the Star Wars movies and shows, sex isn’t a huge topic in Andor. We said huge, not non-existent!
This is the first Star Wars series that needs some heads-up on this subject.
Cassian goes to what looks to be a bar where he inquires about a woman who used to work there; it is implied that this location is a brothel.
It’s handled low-key so depending on how astute your kids are on the subject, it will likely go over their heads.
Characters sleep together, though nothing is shown in action on screen. They are shown in bed together.
A woman gets dressed and you see her underwear.
There is a romance discussed between two characters. Characters kiss.
Is See Andor Ok For Kids: Mature Topics
Andor is dark and intense, as it’s set during the time of the Empire taking over. It is happening about 5 years before A New Hope.
Kids will hear about the horrors of war and rebellion.
There are characters drinking alcohol.
A robot and a friend are asked to tell a lie for Cassian.
Overall, the tone is fairly grim and dark with some humorous moments added in. Very much the same tone as Rogue One.
Violence and Gore: Is Andor Too Scary For Kids Under 14?
Andor is tense, but not super scary and or gory.
As far as violence is concerned, there are blasters, fist fights, and deaths that occur, but as with most Star Wars shows, it’s not particularly gory.
There is some blood, but this doesn’t rate up there with something like Pearl on the gore factor.
Concerning some children may be scenes where children are shown on a planet getting ready for battle. You do see dead kids on screen. Think Battle of Hogwarts type if your child has seen the last Harry Potter movie.
Andor Age Rating: What Ages Can Really Watch This One?
Andor is rated TV-14 for language and violence.
But can your young Star Wars fans watch this one?
Parents Guide: Is Andor Appropriate For Kids Under 14?
As always you know your family best.
And as always when it comes to Star Wars, we know you probably will end up watching it no matter what the parents guides say!
Andor may not be appropriate for your kids based on the slow-moving storyline (at first). The initial episode doesn’t have a ton of action but does give a lot of setup. It starts to move along a bit after that.
We think kids who know and love Star Wars as young as 9 can watch from a content standpoint, and even younger if they have an excellent attention span when it comes to these shows.
May the Force be with you!
