About Black Adam
Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
Johnson stars alongside Aldis Hodge (“City on a Hill,” “One Night in Miami”) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”) as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi (“Sex/Life,” “Rush Hour 3”) as Adrianna, Marwan Kenzari (“Murder on the Orient Express,” “The Mummy”) as Ishmael, Quintessa Swindell (“Voyagers,” “Trinkets”) as Cyclone, Bodhi Sabongui (“A Million Little Things”) as Amon, and Pierce Brosnan (the “Mamma Mia!” and James Bond franchises) as Dr. Fate.

Age Rating of Black Adam: Parents Guide (7 Big Things)
Dwayne Johnson is literally the biggest star on the planet right now. So there’s a very likely chance your tweens and preteens are asking if they can see Black Adam.
Is it safe for kids?
Can your kids watch this one? What is the age rating of Black Adam?
This parent’s guide will help you decide if your family can handle the seven big issues with movies and shows: mature topics, gore, violence, language, sex, romance, and nudity. We’ll also give the Black Adam age rating and age-appropriate recommendations.
Photosensitivity Warning
You’ll experience a lot of flashing lights and sequences that go from dark to very bright very quickly. If you or your children have medical concerns, please be aware.
Language
Black Adam (the movie not so much the character) has a potty mouth.
Not as bad as some DC movies (hi there, Suicide Squad); this one is rated PG-13 vs R.
It still gets away with a lot of swearing by the frequency, but not too bad in severity.
Your kids will hear:
- sh!t
- d@mn
- @ss
- h@ll
- oh g-d
- b@stards
- p!ss
G-d is used a few times as a prayer, but not as a curse and no F-bombs are uttered.
Age Rating of Black Adam: Is It Safe For Teens When It Comes To Sex, Romance, and Nudity?
Black Adam gets by with a clean score here.
A few hugs (nothing romantic), some tight costumes, and shirtless men are all we see when it comes to sex, romance, or nudity in Black Adam.
If sexual content is your breaking point, we think most families will find Black Adam safe for kids in this regard.
Violence and Gore: Is Black Adam Too Scary For Kids Under 13?
Do your kids do ok with zombies and monsters? If they like weird or have comfortably watched Stranger Things, then they should be fine to see Black Adam.
This one is fairly violent, however, so if your kids don’t like blood spurts or deaths, Black Adam may be too much for kids under 13.
They’ll be exposed to fist fights, torture scenes, dismemberments, death by extreme electrocution (including burning off skin to the skeleton) and more.
Weapons include swords, knives, explosions, helicopters firing rockets, and guns.
We caught 2 jump scares that happen in the movie.
Is Black Adam Ok For Kids: Mature Topics
The backstory includes the enslavement of a country and the deaths of its people.
There is a discussion of the death of a child and wife that helps motivate a character.
There’s one instance where a character is drinking what might be alcohol, but it’s not explicitly obvious what’s in the glass.
Black Adam Age Rating: What Ages Can Really Watch This One?
Black Adam is rated PG-13 for language, strong violence, and intense action.
Okay, but what movie starring The Rock doesn’t have that, amirite?

Parents Guide: Is Black Adam Appropriate For Kids Under 13?
As always, you know your kids best.
If you want to compare it to Marvel movies, however, Black Adam is more intense on the gore and violence level- think somewhere between Werewolf By Night and Multiverse of Madness.
If those movies were too scary for your younger children, then you will want to prescreen this one before watching.
But overall, it’s a standard fare comic book action movie with many violent explosions, deaths, and some gruesome moments.
It’s also just over 2 hours long – with a mid-credit scene in Black Adam– so keep that in mind if your child has a hard time sitting through long movies.
We think kids as young as 9 who have previous exposure to movies with salty language, blood, and violence could likely handle Black Adam.
