Is I Am Groot Ok For Kids? Parents Guide
The Guardians of the Galaxy are some of the best superheroes in the MCU- but due to their language and some romantic innuendo, they may not be the most kid-friendly.
But we’re talking about Baby Groot, the star of his own series of shorts ‘I Am Groot.’ He’s not problematic for parents, is he?
We’ll break down the basics before you turn this one on for your kids!
Language, Sex, and Romance In I Am Groot: Is It Ok For Kids?
He’s a baby, and his language consists of 3 words.
So this one is clean when it comes to sex, romance, and any swear words. There is a male Guardian seen taking a shower, but we don’t get any nudity or really anything concerning in that scene.
If Baby Groot is saying something filthy, your kids (nor you!) will ever know! Another character says shut up, but other than this, there was no language.
I Am Groot is kid-friendly on this level.
Violence and Gore: I Am Groot Parents Guide
Groot isn’t a shrinking violet: he does have his tantrums and child-like moments.
He punches something, gets hit back, sets off a bomb, there are blasters shooting at him, etc.
There is no gore per se, but he does through some stuff throughout the shorts.
Mature Topics and Scare Factor: I Am Groot Parents Guide
I Am Groot goes through the many faces of Groot growing up.
We see his first post-pot steps, his jealousy on display, and how he musters up his bravery to find out what’s going bump in the night.
There is a bit of potty humor
There is at least one jump scare that might be mildly frightening, plus some scary music and dark scenes. Another character is in peril.
But overall, the stories are not scary and most kids should be able to enjoy them.
What Is The Age Rating For I Am Groot?
I Am Groot is rated TV-PG
As always, you know your kids best.
We think most kids 4 and up could watch I Am Groot without problems. It’s pretty clean for Guardians of the Galaxy.
**There are some flashing light sequences that may be an issue for photosensitive viewers**
