Age Rating of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: Parents Guide (7 Big Things)
Can your kids watch this one? What is the age rating of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves?
This parent’s guide will help you decide if your family can handle the seven big issues with movies and shows: mature topics, gore, violence, language, sex, romance, and nudity. We’ll also give the Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves age rating and age-appropriate recommendations.
Language
There is a bit of language in the movie, but not as much as I suspected going in.
It was a nice surprise to see that they didn’t go overboard in this area.
Your kids will hear:
- b!tch
- d@mn
- sh!t
- h@ll
- b@stard
- pr!ck
- OMG
The swears and bad language certainly could have been more loaded with frequency and severity, but it landed squarely in a PG-13 safe zone.
Age Rating of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: Is It Safe For Teens When It Comes To Sex, Romance, and Nudity?
There is no sex or nudity in Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thieves.
There is a romance between married people, but there isn’t anything salacious shown in the movie.
Flirtations also occur throughout the movie between couples.
Violence and Gore: Is Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Too Scary For Kids Under 13?
As a fantasy movie, this one does have a fair amount of fighting and violence in it. Some of the moments play for laughs, but there are absolutely some deadly serious moments with deaths.
Dungeons and Dragons doesn’t show too much blood or gore, but there are some intense fighting scenes.
From a gore standpoint, the grossest parts of the movie included re-animating long dead corpses and having conversations with them.
We also noted quite a few jump scares and some pretty scary creatures that may surprise younger children if you choose to take them. Think dragons and beasts of the fantasy variety.
Typical fantasy weapons are used: swords, knives, and axes are all used, including in killings (executions like beheadings).
Is Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Ok For Kids: Mature Topics
Dark magic runs throughout the movie, so if this is a hard no for your family, you will want to skip this one.
There are also scenes that deal with the death of a parent that could be hard for anyone recently grieving a similar loss.
Much has been made about the movie glorifying thievery, but we think there are many lessons in the movie that doesn’t quite validate that concern.
Yes, they are thieves, but ultimately they do the right things for the right reasons. This could lead to many conversations to have with your kids about messing up and putting things right again.
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Age Rating: What Ages Can Really Watch This One?
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is rated PG-13 for Language, Action, and Fantasy Violence.
Parents Guide: Is Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Appropriate For Kids Under 13?
As always, you know your child best.
From our 7 Big Issues, we think this one is fairly family friendly if your family enjoys action adventure movies.
It’s not too gory or bloody, nor does it seek to glorify some of the issues covered in the movie. If you have any doubts, we always suggest a pre-watch before taking the kids.
The movie is a ton of fun, so you really won’t mind watching it more than once!
We think kids ages 10 and up should be safe to see the Dungeons and Dragons movie, possibly even as young as 8 or 9 if they have been exposed to other fantasy movies (and handled them well).
