Age Rating of Ghostbusters Frozen Empire: Parents Guide (7 Big Things)
Can your kids watch this one? What is the age rating of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire?
This parent’s guide will help you decide if your family can handle the seven big issues with movies and shows: mature topics, gore, violence, language, sex, romance, and nudity. We’ll also give the Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire age rating and age-appropriate recommendations.
Language
The language isn’t too outrageous in this movie, but your kids will hear some swear words:
- F- word (not the actual Fbomb to completion but the intent is there)
- @ss
- @sshole
- d@mn
- SOB (b!tch is cut off though)
- h@ll

Age Rating of Ghostbusters 5, Frozen Empire: Is It Safe For Teens When It Comes To Sex, Romance, and Nudity?
Ghostbusters Frozen Empire doesn’t have nudity but there are some situations parents may need to know about. This is a movie you may want to pre-screen before taking very young children to.
This movie does have a few more sexual innuendos in it than Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
There’s some hugging and kissing as well as some adult conversations that convey sexual situations. While it’s not overly sexual, there are some jokes that are sexual in nature.
Your kids will hear “horny” as a description and terms like hookers and sex dungeon.
It’s nothing too shocking and younger kids may not catch some reference, but its a step up over the previous movie that your kids may have seen.
There’s also a relationship that could potentially be growing to something in the LGBTQIA+ arena, but it’s not explicit in this movie.
Violence and Gore: Is Ghostbusters Frozen Empire Too Scary For Kids Under 13?
I felt like this movie is a bit more intense and scarier than the previous Ghostbusters reboot. So keep that in mind if your kids don’t do well with creepy things.
There are some loud noises and intense jump scares that could be too much for some kids.
As far as gore and violence, this movie does have a few intense moments. It’s not gory, exactly, but a squeamish child will be looking away at the severed limbs shown.
Is Ghostbusters Frozen Empire Ok For Kids: Mature Topics
Obviously, paranormal discussions will be had. If you’ve seen the original movies, you know there will be references to the bible, magic, unexplained phenomenom, etc.
Characters drink in the movie and there is a scene with a vape shop.
There’s a lot of conversation about death, dying, killing, and even a canibalism reference.
Ghostbusters Frozen Empire Parents Guide: Is Appropriate For Kids Under 13?
As always, you know your kids best.
I’d say this one is good for kids as young as 10 or 11. If they’ve seen the other Ghostbusters movies and were entertained (and you felt they were appropriate) then you’d be find letting younger kids see this one.
But in general, I’d stick with ages 10 and up for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. It’s a longer movie (1 hour and 55 minutes) and it drags quite a bit for the first 90 minutes. Keep that in mind before taking a younger kiddo to the movie theater!
