About Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3
In Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere.
But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past.
Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

Age Rating of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3: Parents Guide (7 Big Things)
Can your kids watch this one? What is the age rating of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3?
This parent’s guide will help you decide if your family can handle the seven big issues with movies and shows: mature topics, gore, violence, language, sex, romance, and nudity. We’ll also give the age rating and age-appropriate recommendations.
Language
To no one’s surprise: the Guardians are a mouthy bunch who throw around a lot of curse words. But…
There’s a first for the Marvel Cinematic Universe: a full F-Bomb is dropped in the movie.
Welcome to the F-in’ MCU, I guess?
We’re hoping this trend doesn’t continue, especially in movies targeted (in part) to younger audiences.
Your kids will also hear things like:
- @ss
- @sshole
- sh!t
- d@mn
- jack@ss
- d!ck, d!ckhead
- douche
- son of a b!tch
- h@ll
- p!ss off
- OMG
- stupid
- idiot
- screw you
- G-d, for g-ds sake
- moron
Age Rating of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3: Is It Safe For Teens When It Comes To Sex, Romance, and Nudity?
There is no sex or nudity in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
Violence and Gore: Is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Too Scary For Kids Under 13?
The Guardians have never shied away from fighting, blowing things up, and killing when needed. So you can expect the same type of violence as you have seen in previous Guardians movies.
There’s a lab/planet that is visited that’s kinda gross for lack of a better word. The outside is formed with organic material- flesh- and it’s just pretty graphic.
While this isn’t the scariest movie in the MCU (we still think Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness wins that title) there are some dark and somewhat disturbing plot lines and moments in the movie.
Rocket’s story is particularly disturbing as we finally get the background on how exactly he came to be.
There are also scenes of kids in cages and in peril that might be intense for sensitive viewers.
Is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Ok For Kids: Mature Topics
Hands down this is one of the most emotional MCU movies we’ve seen. It lands in our top five tear-inducing Marvel movies.
Themes of family, loss, and grief are played out side by side with a rather large helping of animal cruelty scenes. We think it went a tad overboard in this area.
If you have kids who are sensitive souls, especially when it comes to animals, we suggest pre-screening this one.
Or maybe wait until it’s on Disney+ so you can pause or fast forward through the concerning scenes.
In addition to the animal cruelty plot, a character is seen getting drunk to the point of passing out. There’s another scene where drug dealers are seen on the street and the selling of meth is mentioned.
Age Rating of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3: What Ages Can Really Watch This One?
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is rated PG-13 for language, violence, drug use, and animal cruelty.
Parents Guide: Is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Appropriate For Kids Under 13?
If your family has watched the other Guardians movies, this is similar in tone and violent content.
There are a few instances where blood is actually seen which we don’t remember being prevalent in other Guardians movies.
Because of the Guardian’s language and the emotional, intense scenes dealing with animal cruelty, we’re suggesting either previewing the movie or sticking with the PG-13 suggestion.
Kids under 13 may be a bit too young for this last ride with one of our favorite superhero teams.
