Violence and Gore: Is John Wick: Chapter 4 Too Scary For Kids Under 17?
Goodness, this is one violent movie.
But if you’ve seen any of the other John Wick movies, you know the deal.
Parents who are concerned with violence and gore should absolutely skip this movie with their kids. There’s really no wiggle room here as the bullet count – and body count- limit does not exist.
Since the main characters are assassins, death and violence are who they are and the action scenes are out of control.
There are hand-to-hand fight scenes, guns, knives, falls down stairs or off edges (brutal death, by the way), arrows through heads, axes in the brain, and plenty of cringe-inducing deaths throughout.
I honestly felt some scenes went on far too long and at times found myself bit bored, which may be a huge red flag for parents.
Letting your kids get too comfortable with these types of scenes likely isn’t on your agenda if you are reading parent movie reviews like this one.
Is John Wick 4 Ok For Kids: Mature Topics
One issue that could trigger some kids is the dog.
If you are familiar with the John Wick story, you know the first dog’s death triggered the whole franchise storyline.
In John Wick 4, a dog is also featured and at times put in jeopardy. Animal lovers: take note!
(ps- the dog does not die in John Wick 4)
Characters are also seen drinking and smoking throughout the movie.
John Wick: Chapter 4 Age Rating: What Ages Can Really Watch This One?
John Wick Chapter 4 is rated R for action, violence, language, and gore.
Parents Guide: Is John Wick 4 Appropriate For Kids Under 17?
In almost any sense, John Wick Chapter 4 is not kid-friendly or appropriate for kids.
Can kids in high school see this one though? That depends.
You know your family and kids best.
If they’ve seen the other movies in the franchise, then this one is no different. As rule since it is incredibly violent, we’d stick with ages 15 and up, however.
If your family loves this kind of non-stop action with a super high bullet and body count, then enjoy. Absolutely no judgment here.
But be warned: this one is LONG. It clocks in at 2 hours and 49 minutes, which is incredibly long to watch all that violence.
For parents who haven’t seen any of the previous movies, we’re going to strongly suggest a pre-view of any John Wick movie before you decide if this is safe for your kids under 17 to watch.
