About Madame Web
In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines.
The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who develops the power to see the future… and realizes she can use that insight to change it.
Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women bound for powerful destinies…if they can all survive a deadly present.
Age Rating: What Ages Can Really Watch This One?
Madame Web is rated PG-13 for language and violence. But what does that mean, exactly?
I break it down for you in this parents guide for Madame Web to help you decide your kids can see this one.
Age Rating of Madame Web: Parents Guide (7 Big Things)
Can your kids watch this one? What is the age rating of Madame Web?
This parent’s guide will help you decide if your family can handle the seven big issues with movies and shows: mature topics, gore, violence, language, sex, romance, and nudity. We’ll also give the Madame Web age rating and age-appropriate recommendations.
Language
There’s profanity in Madame Web, but nothing too shocking.
Most kids have heard these things before, but choosing to take your kids to a movie with this list of swear words is another thing. Here’s what your kids will hear:
- @sshole
- @ss
- h@ll
- sh!t
- b!tch
- g-d d@mmit
- omg
- J@sus
There are no f-bombs that I caught in the movie.
Age Rating of Madame Web: Is It Safe For Teens When It Comes To Sex, Romance, and Nudity?
There is no nudity in Madame Web but there are some scenes with sex and sexual innuendo to know about.
A woman is seen in her bra, a couple is in bed together implying they had sex, and there are scenes with kissing.
Violence and Gore: Is Madame Web Too Scary For Kids Under 13?
Madame Web isn’t too gory or scary for a PG-13 movie.
There are explosions, fights, and violence, but there’s a moderate level of blood and gore shown on screen. Facial deformities and wounds are shown, however.
Hand-to-hand combat, chase scenes, guns, up close attacks (choking, for example) and are shown.
Cassandra is a paramedic, so some scenes show medical assistance that could be traumatizing if your child recently witnessed something like this. Just be aware that it exists.
There are also scenes showing violence towards police which may be triggering to some families.
Is Madame Web Ok For Kids: Mature Topics
There are deaths and some animal violence that occur in the movie.
Adults consume alcohol.
There is a birthing scene, but nothing is shown that would be concerning to children.
Foster care and abandonment issues are also themes in the movie. Parental loss is also in there.
If your child struggles with these issues, you may want to pre-screen the movie or skip it altogether (that’s not a huge loss!).
Parents Guide: Is Appropriate For Kids Under 13?
As always, you know your kids best.
If you really need a movie to take your kids to, then Madame Web is appropriate for kids 10 and up. But honestly? I’d save the money and wait for it to stream.
It’s not that good; it’s a little confusing with the plot points, and unless your kiddo is really into superhero movies, they won’t mind waiting to watch this from the comforts of the couch.
PS- this Marvel movie does not have a mid or end-credit scene. So if you want to leave as soon as the credits roll, you can!
