Age Rating of The Expendables 4: Parents Guide (7 Big Things)
Can your kids watch this one? What is the age rating of Expendables 4?
This parent’s guide will help you decide if your family can handle the seven big issues with movies and shows: mature topics, gore, violence, language, sex, romance, and nudity. We’ll also give the age rating and age-appropriate recommendations.
Language
If you don’t like your kids hearing language, sit this one out.
Because pretty much every curse word you can imagine is used in The Expendables 4.
Your kids will hear:
- F-bombs in a variety of ways
- p!ssed
- OMG
- pr!ck
- b!tch
- @sshole. @ss
- bullsh!t. sh!t
- d@mn
- h@ll
- d-bag
- lick my b@lls
It’s a lot on the language scale, so if that’s a no-go, then have your kids sit this one out.
Age Rating of The Expendables 4: Is It Safe For Teens When It Comes To Sex, Romance, and Nudity?
There’s not very much by way of romance in the movie.
There is no nudity in The Expendables 4, but there is an implied sex scene where a couple has a physical fight with banter that works as foreplay.
They are seen in bed with her wearing lingerie, and he is shirtless, making it clear they just had sex.
A woman is also shown in a tank top without a bra and you see her nipples poking through the shirt.
There are also other moments with sexual dialogue with lines like “lick my b@lls”, “how they hangin'”, “…golden showers”, “your brother liked this tattoo too…” throughout the movie.
It’s not terribly sexualized, but some lines could be too much for younger teens.
Violence and Gore: Is The Expendables 4 Too Scary For Kids Under 17?
This movie is violent and gory, with a decent amount of bloodshed. There’s a high body count in The Expendables 4, similar to the other movies in this franchise.
There are many scenes where characters are killed up close during hand-to-hand combat, but there are also explosions and gun violence.
You’ll see a few dead bodies that are pretty gross and mutilated, including one that’s been burned up.
Is The Expendables 4 Ok For Kids: Mature Topics
There’s some grief and loss discussed in the movie.
It’s not deep at all, and the basic plot revolves around getting the bad guys and going for revenge.
Parents Guide: Is The Expendables 4 Appropriate For Kids Under 17?
As always, you know your kids best.
If they’ve seen the previous movies and you are ok with it, there’s probably no reason they can’t watch this one either.
The main concerns would be language and violence and it is on par with a solid Rated R rating in both respects.
We think kids in high school could see this movie, but we wouldn’t recommend going younger than 14 years old.
