About The Super Marios Bros. Movie
Based on the world of Nintendo’s Mario games, the film invites audiences into a vibrant, thrilling new universe unlike any created before in an action-packed, exuberant cinematic comedy event.
While working underground to fix a water main, Brooklyn plumbers Mario (Chris Pratt; Jurassic World and The LEGO Movie franchises) and brother Luigi (Charlie Day; It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) are transported down a mysterious pipe and wander into a magical new world.
But when the brothers are separated, Mario embarks on an epic quest to find Luigi.
With the assistance of a Mushroom Kingdom resident Toad (Keegan-Michael Key; The Lion King) and some training from the strong-willed ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy; The Queen’s Gambit), Mario taps into his own power.

Violence and Gore: Is The Super Marios Bros. Movie Too Scary For Kids Under 10?
There are a few times that they caught us with a jump scare! We felt a water scene with a creature was fairly intense.
But that’s really as far as Super Mario Bros Movie goes when it comes to scary.
The cartoon violence is what you will see on most shows, so this movie doesn’t stand out as particularly scary or violent.
Characters are in peril and do have to fight their way out of scary situations by punching and using weapons. Axes and spears are used.
If you or your kids have played the Mario video games, you’ll recognize the more intense “levels” so to speak.

Parents Guide: Is The Super Marios Bros. Movie Appropriate For Kids Under 10?
photosensitivity warning: there are short scenes with bright flashes.

Especially if they are already well versed in the Super Mario Brothers video game world; they won’t have any issue understanding and enjoying the content.
To be clear: you don’t need to know the games to follow the plot either. But gamers will probably level up in enjoyment here.
The movie clocks in right at 90 minutes, which is the sweet spot for kinder-level attention spans!
Could you take younger children? Maybe.
We didn’t find anything super concerning in our viewing, but of course, you know your child best. This might be a load them up on snacks to distract them kind of film if you plan to take the whole family, and don’t want to leave the littlest ones at home.
Stick around til the very end for an end credit scene! You do have time to hit a bathroom between the mid credit scene and end credit scene though.
