About Challengers (2024)
Challengers stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach and a force of nature who makes no apologies for her game on and off the court.
Married to a champion on a losing streak (Mike Faist – West Side Story), Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick (Josh O’Connor – The Crown) – his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend.
As their pasts and presents collide, and tensions run high, Tashi must ask herself, what will it cost to win.

Age Rating of Zendaya’s Challengers: Parents Guide (7 Big Things)
Can your kids watch this one? What is the age rating of Challengers?
This parent’s guide will help you decide if your family can handle the seven big issues with movies and shows: mature topics, gore, violence, language, sex, romance, and nudity. We’ll also give the Challengers age rating and age-appropriate recommendations.
Language
Your kids will hear the following curse words included in the dialogue of Challengers:
- F-bombs (like— a lot of F-bombs!)
- d!ck
- sh!t
- b!tch
- p@ssy
- j@rk off
- JC
- OMG, oh g-d
If language is an issue with your family, you can probably stop here and understand that this movie is not for your kids.

Is It Safe For Teens When It Comes To Sex, Romance, and Nudity?
What probably got your kids interested in this movie in the first place was the trailer teasing sex. Not just sex, but a suggested sexual 3-way with Zendaya in the middle.
There is sex in Challengers, but it’s mostly implied rather than visually taking place on screen. It’s rated R for a reason: it does get steamy. You’ll see the characters graphically making out, but you won’t see full-on sex happening.
There’s also a lot of verbal discussion about sexual acts in the movie, including a scene where characters discuss masturbation.
There are both hetero and homosexual relationships in the movie.
Is there nudity in Zendaya’s Challengers movie? Yes, yes, there is.
Male locker room scenes give full frontal and backside nudity. A see-through bra is shown.
Violence and Gore: Is Challengers Too Scary For Kids Under 17?
This isn’t a particularly violent film.
No true blood, gore, explosions, or weapons in this one.
Some injuries are graphic and wince-inducing (I turned away from the screen, I won’t lie!), as well as some open palm slaps, however, so it’s not entirely violence-free.
But nothing that should scar your kids or make them unable to sleep at night. Unless they, too, are professional tennis players, cause I could kinda see that being a concern.
Is Challengers Ok For Kids: Mature Topics
Characters drink and smoke in Challengers.
Discussions surrounding grief, loss, racism, and threats of violence do happen in the plot of the movie.
It’s a fairly adult movie, so consider your child’s maturity before giving the okay for this one.
Challengers Parents Guide: Is Appropriate For Kids Under 17?
As always, you know your kids best. And we know they all love Zendaya.
But we’d say most kids should stay home from this one unless they are allowed to consume mature sexual and mature content at home.
It’s racy, and there is some nudity, so keep the younger kids home if that’s not something your family is comfortable watching. I’d recommend this for kids 15 and up if you are a very permissive family, but most kids should just wait until 17+ to see Challengers movie.
