If your kids love old horror movie monsters, then they’re probably asking if they can see this one.
Can your teens and tweens watch this one? What is the age rating of Hellraiser?
This parent’s guide will help you decide if your family can handle the seven big issues with movies and shows: mature topics, gore, violence, language, sex, romance, and nudity. We’ll also give the Hellraiser (2022) age rating and age-appropriate recommendations.
Language
There are a ton of swears in Hellraiser (2022).
And truly, I don’t blame them. With all the weird stuff going on in this movie, the Fbombs would be flying over here!
Your teens will hear:
- sh!t
- h@ll
- d@mn
- g-d d@mn
- j@sus chr!st
- F-bombs (many uses with a variety of inflections and endings)
Age Rating of Hellraiser: Is It Safe For Teens When It Comes To Sex, Romance, and Nudity?
There is also a bit of sex in Hellraiser.
Two scenes involving the same couple are shown having sexual intercourse on screen. There are scenes of couples in bed together presumed naked.
There is some verbal direction during sex (do this, do that) kind of thing as well which may make it a bit over the top for some families to consider.
There is no true nudity shown, but in one scene a naked man is spread eagle and you can see a hint of his penis. But it’s not defined, more like a bulge, but since he is naked you are aware of what it is.
Violence and Gore: Is Hellraiser Too Scary For Kids Under 17?
Mercy this is one violent and gory movie.
If you’ve seen the first, then you know what to expect.
In Hellraiser, skin is peeled off bodies.
Chains are hooked into arms, legs, and backs, and people are hoisted into the air by them.
There are puncture wounds that cause a mass amount of bleeding.
There are visuals of internal body parts being shown exposed on the outside.
Lots and lots of torture are going on, with screams from the victims making a huge impact.
If your kids like weird and bloody, this movie may not scare them as much as make them squirm.
There are a few jump scares as well, but the true horror is in the gore you see on screen. There’s a ton of carnage and it goes a long way to make you uncomfortable.
Is Hellraiser (2022) Ok For Kids: Mature Topics
There is a complicated brother/sister relationship that centers around the sister’s drug abuse.

Parents Guide: Is Hellraiser (2022) Appropriate For Kids Under 17?
This one is really going to be where “you know your kids best” fits.
Hellraiser is not kid-friendly in any way. However, it doesn’t mean your teens who love horror can’t handle this one.
We’d suggest sticking to 17 and up unless they are huge horror fans and possibly have seen the other Hellraiser movies.
