If you haven’t seen Avengers: Age of Ultron, it’s time! Be sure to watch this before Thor: Ragnarok comes out on November 3. This is part of my Marvel Parent Movie Reviews: know if the newest Marvel Avengers movie is appropriate for your little superhero before you go!
If you haven’t caught up on all the Marvel movies just yet: what are you waiting for! You want to get in on this action before you head to the movies this summer.
Here are a few lists of Marvel movies to watch in order. If you get started now, you’ll be set by the time Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp hits theaters this summer.
I’ve also got a preview post talking about Avengers: Infinity War parent movie reviews as well. Is this one going to be kid-friendly? I have thoughts on the probability.
Avengers: Age of Ultron Parent Movie Review
They got the band back together and just in time for summer.
The Avengers fly into theaters today in the new movie Avengers: Age of Ultron.
I caught a preview of the movie in IMAX 3D earlier this week with Mr. Shenanigans to celebrate his birthday.
You know I’m a fan of the genre so I’m sure you’ll guess that I loved this movie.
You’d be right.
Sequels are often disappointing but this one is possibly better than the first Avengers.
The Avengers lead by Tony Stark and Steve Rogers are faced with a new challenge: they must defeat Ultron, an artificial intelligence being determined to defeat the Avengers and bring about the destruction of humanity.
Thor, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff, and Clint Barton round out the team of superheroes.
Ultron is pretty impressive in his own right but recruits some backup.
He creates his own team with an army of drones in his likeness.
He also enlists two enhanced humans who have a vendetta against Stark. Twins Pietro and Wanda Maximoff come with special talents: he’s crazy fast and she’s able to manipulate minds and energy.
This was much more than an action film.
We get a bit of a love story, a surprising background reveal, and some personal insight into the minds of our favorite heroes.
All with a healthy dose of laughs. These guys were funny- keeping a sense of humor while saving the world is important, I’m sure.
I think I’ve developed a 3-way tie for my favorite Avenger after this movie. While Captain America and (not in the movie because he’s “dead” Agent Coulson) are easy to love, I’ve been partial to Thor. And I still dig him. I mean, it’s THOR.
And I still dig him. I mean, it’s THOR.
But this movie gives us new insight into both Hawkeye’s and Black Widow’s backstories.
Without giving anything away, I’ll just say getting to know Natasha and Clint better was my favorite surprise of the movie.
It changed my opinions on both these characters and I know you’ll feel the same way after you see it.
I’m solidly on #TeamBlackLeather now.
And, hey there, runDisney friends- there’s something of interest for you, too! The Infinity Stones and their importance are introduced to the plot.
Stick around after the movie for a short glimpse of what’s to come in the series (and maybe in the medals this fall?).
My suggestion: if IMAX is showing in your area, spend the extra money for it. This is a big movie in every sense of the word and I felt the big screen was the best way to do it justice.
Normally I’m not a huge fan of 3D. It’s just a bit too overwhelming for me.
But this movie was well done and I felt 3D enhanced the storyline. I’d also say you might need to watch this one more than once to get all the nuances and details. There was a lot going on with more complex subplots than the original movie.
Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, p.g.a., Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963. Get set for an action-packed thrill ride when The Avengers return in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on May 1, 2015.
Avengers: Age of Ultron Parent Movie Reviews
My children are 15, 12, 11 and 6. Here are my recommendations for each age based on my children’s maturity levels.
Teen/Tweens Should be good to go. Unless they are highly sensitive, children in this age range will be able to follow the story and enjoy it. There is fighting and violence because it’s an action movie. I plan on taking my three older children to this movie.
8 to 10-years old Depends greatly on the maturity level. If they have seen and understood the previous Marvel movies, these superhero lovers probably going to be fine.
If your child of this age is highly sensitive, you may want to avoid the movie or screen it ahead of time.
And I’d possibly avoid 3-D movies at this age, however. It can make the whole experience a bit more intense! My screening was an IMAX 3-D experience, so, yes… intense!
7 and Under I say, “proceed with caution” in this age range. I’d mostly say don’t do it, but there are exceptions of course. Most likely it’s not appropriate for your kid, I mean, it’s got a PG-13 rating for a reason.
It is rated PG-13 due to violence and adult themes so a child who only watches Thomas the Tank Engine is probably not ready for this one.

I don't go the first week, and next weekend is Tinker Bell, so it'll have to wait. I'm sure by that time all of the plot points and jokes will have been released anyway. :(

I really want to see this movie. But my son is too nervous to see action movies in the theater because of how loud they are and my hubs has no interest. So either I go by myself or I wait for Netflix. Whoop whomp.
