Talk Marvel To Me Bi-Weekly Series
Every other week we’re sharing a little something from our favorite Marvel movies (MCU) leading up to the big one coming in APRIL- yeah, did you see that? Marvel changed the date of the Infinity War release!
Be sure to reach this post if you need to know what Marvel movies to watch in order before Avengers: Endgame.
The idea behind this series is that each of us will share a bit of background about a featured character along with why we like them. Sometimes we’re adding in a fun recipe or craft that ties right in!
Honestly, it’s just an excuse to talk about Marvel more. I won’t lie.
We’re covering a bit about our faves from Captain America: Winter Soldier and once again, I get to talk about the villain in the movie: The Winter Soldier, aka, Sgt. Bucky Barnes.
Or as our friend Amy @asthebunnyhops calls him: Sgt. Man Bun. (No spoilers as to why, so I won’t explain that one!)
Tania at Lola Lambchops is talking about her love of Falcon?and offers up an adult costume idea.
Taty at Cool Moms Cool Tips is covering the amazing Black Widow.
Britni at Play, Party, Plan is chatting about Stan Lee- that’s right, Stan the Man!
Who Is The Winter Soldier?
In the first Captain America movie, we meet Cap’s best buddy Bucky Barnes. They share a boyhood bond that is summed up in their promise to be with each other, “Til the end of the line.”
He’s a boy from Brooklyn who, like everyone else in the neighborhood, is shipped off to fight the Nazis.
Cap finds him, rescues him, and recruits him to his specialized team of Nazi hunters. This is where things go wrong for Bucky. I don’t want to give too much away in case you haven’t seen the movie.
Years later when Cap is back in action, he learns of a super soldier assassin who apparently is unstoppable. They call him the Winter Soldier.
Welp, Cap and the Winter Soldier come face to face and guess what… it’s his old pal, Bucky.
So Why Do We Love the Winter Soldier?
Simple answer: because Captain America loves him.
Have you met me? Ha!
But really: it turns out that the Winter Soldier underwent some mind control procedures that altered his entire life.
The Russians altered everything about him (by injecting him with the same super soldier serum that Cap received) as well as brainwashing him.
So obviously, it’s not his fault! And somewhere inside the bad guy lives the boy from Brooklyn that Cap is determined to restore.
From Marvel.com:
He is an Olympic-class athlete and exceptional acrobat highly skilled in both unarmed and armed hand-to-hand combat and extremely accurate marksman. He is fluent in four languages including German and Russian.
Bucky’s Blackberry Lemonade
I know- it’s pretty corny.
But when I think of Steve Rogers’ (aka Captain America) growing up with his best friend- both of them sipping on a cool glass of lemonade doesn’t seem too far-fetched!
Of course, this is the adult version of that. Because saving the world probably requires a little liquid courage from time to time!
