There are a few things in life that you can use to instantly bond with me. Disney (duh) and Pitch Perfect are two of them. When these things combined and basically made a baby, I knew I was down for this show. Last night we experienced Disney’s DCappella- here’s what you need to know from my Disney’s DCappella review to get DCappella’s music in your life!
My Disney’s DCappella review is in partnership with Disney’s DCappella. I was given tickets to the Washington, DC show in exchange for a review- but the dorky Disney music loving confessions are all my own.
I’m currently listening to Disney’s DCappella sing to me – because, of course, the album was a MUST download after last night!
I’m a little obsessed with Disney, in case you guys haven’t noticed. And my runDisney playlist is essentially Disney movie music, so this concert was a no-brainer to attend.
And I’m thrilled to report that it was so much fun- more fun than I expected. We had an awesome girls night out and I adored watching the teens and my youngest rock out to their favorite songs.
However… one small note. I hate to be that guy, but… I gotta say it.
Early in the show, there’s a glaringly inaccurate line that hurts my Disney heart every time I hear it or read it online.
You guys want to guess which one it is?
DisneyLAND is the happiest place on earth.
Disney World is the most magical place on earth.
I know it’s crazy, but I also know I’m not the only Disney crazed fan out there that notices (and grimaces and even groans a little… and might have shouted a bit when they heard it… #sorrynotsorry)
So, Antonio- I think it’s your line. If you see this, um, I love you… but… it’s Disneyland, my friend!
But once I got past that, I was totally sucked into the show.
Here’s what you need to know about Disney’s DCappella 2019 Tour.
About Disney’s DCappella
This is a group put together consisting of 7 singers/performers, each with a different unique voice and talent. They perform only with music they make themselves, which is crazy impressive.
You might recognize a couple of them: Shelley Regner, Ashley from Pitch Perfect is in the cast!
So is Antonio Fernandez, the vocal captain from American Music Machine who plays in the Disney Parks. You’ve probably enjoyed his beats in Epcot.
And DC hometown favorite Orlando Dixon, a finalist from The Voice. His fans were wild for him last night.
But you’ll want to get to know them all because they were fabulous!
Joe Santoni, Morgan Keene, RJ Woessner, and Sojourner Brown (um- she’s my favorite!) round out the talented performers.
The whole group was put together after a nationwide search by Deke Sharon the group?s co-creator, music director, arranger, and album producer.
Disney’s DCappella Review
Short but sweet: if you love Disney music, you will be totally entertained by these performers. And this is completely family-friendly, so be sure to take the kiddos with you!
So get your tickets and sing along. Softly… but yeah, we were all singing in the audience.
What worked: every single song. Seriously.
And we had a fabulous opening act, the a cappella group Ember from Baltimore. They killed their 3 song set and set us up for an amazing 2 hours of aca-awesomeness. Thanks, guys!
Where are my Incredibles 2 fans at? I had no idea this was them- but yeah, DCappella spent some time at Pixar Studios recording this one for the movie!
DCappella has a great variety of songs from all your favorite Disney movies and I think there’s a little something for everyone.
The teen girls absolutely LOVED that a Hercules song was included, and my youngest was on her feet for Immortals from Big Hero 6. Which, btw, they totally rocked the heck out of last night!
The biggest surprise for me was the rendition of The Big Bad Wolf from the Three Little Pigs Silly Symphony.
It was so well done and so charming- and I love that there was some throwback to old school Disney included in the performances.
That being said, not every note was perfect. But I think that’s live music, right? So no major complaints from this Disney music lover- except I might could use another hour of it all.
Even at 2 hours, I could always use more Disney music in my world!
