I loved getting the chance to watch Doctor Strange 2016 when it hit the big screen. But I’ll confess: It wasn’t high on my Marvel movie list at the time. Of course, now I know I was missing out! If you are running down the Marvel movie lists in order, don’t skip over Doctor Strange! Here’s my review and suggesions on where you can watch Doctor Strange from 2016.

Like most of you guys, I said “Doctor Strange… who?” when runDisney announced the Doctor Strange 10K in the fall of 2016.

Since it was happening over Super Heroes Weekend, I had a good idea that he would have something to do with Marvel or the Avengers.

But that’s about all I knew.

So off to Google I went and then geeked out when the Doctor Strange trailer released. (By the way, I totally called the 10K medal, didn’t I?)

Look, I make no apologies for being a fairly new but fairly enthusiastic Marvel fangirl. I may not have grown up reading comic books and hitting cons, but I’m making up for lost time.

Captain America is my guy, and I love Agents May and Coulson.

And now I’m adding Dr. Stephen Strange to my favorites list.

What appeals to me is the storytelling and interweaving of lines and characters. I’ve always loved a good storyteller, and so far Marvel hasn’t disappointed on that level.

When I find something that is both complex and simply laid out at the same time, I get hooked easily.

And that’s why I fell in love with Doctor Strange. It’s both a simple story (exceedingly arrogant man gets slapped around by fate) and a complex one (parallel dimensions, alternate dimensions, and the multiverse- I mean, hello!) combined into a visually epic movie.

It’s cool, y’all. Really cool.

Where To Watch Doctor Strange 2016

If you are working your way through the Marvel movies in order to watch before Infinity War, you’re probably on the hunt for where to watch Doctor Strange 2016.

Good news if you have Netflix: it’s currently streaming!

You can also rent it from Amazon or purchase (affiliate link) it as well.

Official Synopsis of Doctor Strange

From Marvel Studios comes “Doctor Strange,” the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place—a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long Strange—armed with newly acquired magical powers—is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence.

One of the lines in the movie explains how Doctor Strange fits into the Marvel Universe.

Master Wong (Benedict Wong) says, “The Avengers protect the world from physical dangers – we safeguard it against more mystical threats.”

And that pretty much blew me away.

Why You Need To See Doctor Strange Review

First of all, Benedict Cumberbatch is Dr. Stephen Strange.

Oh, you need more? I kinda thought that might be enough.

But okay, how about Rachel McAdams and Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor? BOOM. A full slate of top actors who also kicked some major bad guy booty along the way.

Secondly, it’s hilarious.

One of the first reactions I had to this movie was laughter. I wasn’t expecting it, to be honest. There are perfectly written and executed dry lines that had the theater rolling- maybe with all the Brits involved, I should have expected more of this.

Strange drops some good ones. He may be a jerk, but he’s a funny guy. “Beyonce”, in fact, was a favorite.

Oh- I have your attention now? Ha! Go see it just for the Beyonce line. You’ll crack up.

The costumes- namely Strange’s Cloak of Levitation- are beautiful. I kept wishing I had time to create different costumes for the race weekend coming up, but I’ll have to count on my more prepared nerdy runners to make it happen this time.

And as always, be sure to stay to the very end. The VERY end of the credits. There are two bonus scenes that you don’t want to miss, especially if you like tall blonde guys from Asgard. That’s all I’m going to give away there.

See Doctor Strange 2016 In IMAX 3D

Yes, it’s more expensive.yes, it’s a really big screen and might be a farther drive for you. I know my closest theater is 30 minutes away.

But YES it will be worth it. It was incredible.

Visually this movie was a little like a mashup of The Matrix and Inception with the mind-bending action sequences.

Wow, y’all. Just wow.

Go, go, go- and you won’t be disappointed!

Parental Review of Doctor Strange

I took my 11-year-old daughter with me to the PG-13 movie and it was completely appropriate for her.

There is limited language, no sex, but of course plenty of action and violence. She’s familiar with the other Marvel movies, so this was in line with most of them.

Remember how I said it was both complex and simple at the same time?

The storytelling is so well done I didn’t have to explain anything to her later; she was able to understand what was happening and why without Mom’s help.

I also have a 5-year-old, 9-year-old and a 13-year-old.

The only one I won’t take to this movie would be the youngest since I don’t think she’d follow along as easily.

Plus she’s really just there for the popcorn, and I don’t like to share!

For everyone else: we’ve already bought their tickets for the Saturday evening show. I can’t wait for them to see it!

Doctor Strange opens in U.S. theaters on November 4, 2016.

Thanks! Your reviews always help me decide if the movie is appropriate for my kiddos or not as mine are 5 and 9 years also! I’ll leave the youngest at home and take my daughter with me!

Hello Patty. I totally agree with your thoughts . I’m also watched this film for three things, but The main reason of course was miracle Benedict Cumberbatch with his exactly acting and also special effects was just great. What do you think it’s worth to waiting for the sequel ? Thanks for sharing.
