About Black Widow
In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises.
Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.
Set in the aftermath of the events of Civil War, Natasha is on the run- straight back to her first family.
Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, David Harbour portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz is Melina.

Are There End Credit Scenes In Black Widow?
Cmon, man, this is Marvel!
You don’t leave until the end of the movie- or in this case, until the single mid-credit scene plays.
There’s only one, and it’s a doozy for those that are up to date on their Marvel movies and Disney+ shows.
There’s no end credit scene in Black Widow, but there is a mid-credit scene.
When Can You Pee During Black Widow?
Look, I know it’s tempting to stay at home in your PJs and watch Black Widow on Disney+ Premiere Access. It’s a great value for the family, and you’ll want to watch this one more than once.
But I implore you: this action packed movie deserves a screening in the theater (Dolby if you can make it happen!). While the CGI is a little wonky at times and I can’t say that needs to be on the big screen, the fight scenes and stunts are absolutely worth the price of admission.
Knowing when you can pee during Black Widow will save you from missing those must-see action sequences.
Here are some suggested times to rush out and go pee during Black Widow.
Do it fast, and get back as soon as you can. Thank you for your cooperation.
- 24-minutes in when Natasha is walking toward a trailer
- 50-minutes in when the girls are eating and talking
- 1:08 in after Alexei says “I couldn’t be more proud”
- 1:26 when Melina says “Let’s not keep him waiting”
Is Black Widow Safe For Kids? Parent Movie Review and Guide
We are a Marvel-loving family so our kids have seen them all, even at a young age with no regrets.
This is where we typically say “If your kids have seen the Marvel movies before, then they are safe to watch Black Widow.”
*record scratch*
But we aren’t saying that about Black Widow.
This movie and its important backstory of the characters hits some powerful themes and discussions that parents will need to be aware of before they decide if Black Widow is ok for kids in your house to see.
This will be a spoiler-free review, but please note that adult subject matter as it pertains to Black Widow’s past will be discussed.
As always: you know your kids best.
This Black Widow parent guide and review is just to give you a heads up on what you may expect to see so you can determine the best age for Black Widow in your home.
Language in Black Widow
There’s a fair amount of cussing in Black Widow, more than other Marvel movies that we noticed.
Elena and Natasha have a sisterly connection, and as anyone with sisters can attest- sometimes you have to call out the one you love the most!
Some of it is in Russian, so your kids may miss those highlights (unless they can read, because it is captained quickly).
Words and phrases like p!ssed off, b!tch, sh!t, shut up, BS, @ss and d-bag are used in their full glory. Multiple times in some cases. D@mn and G-D@mn are both used as well (once was all I caught).
The use of the F bomb is not in this movie.
Language may be a deciding factor when determining if Black Widow is safe for kids for you.
Is Black Widow Too Scary For Kids? Violence
The villain in the movie is Taskmaster and this is one persistent adversary!
Masked up, well trained, shield at the ready: this one is a Bad A and a worthy opponent for Black Widow.
But on a scare factor, Black Widow isn’t too scary for kids when it comes to this villian. It’s a standard baddie from the MCU.
The violence, however, is pretty high in this movie.
Explosions, close escapes, extreme (and that cannot be stressed enough) peril, and hand-to-hand combat are rampant in this movie.
It’s chock full of action which might not make Black Widow ok for kids.
Guns as well as knives are used a lot, which some kids might find a little unsettling when used in an upclose manner.
Is Black Widow Safe For Kids: Adult Content
This is where you may want to screen Black Widow in advance of a family movie night.
If you aren’t aware of Black Widow’s backstory and history, she’s lead quite a life. Some of which was alluded to in previous movies, but not delved into deeply.
That all changes in Black Widow.
From a young age, she was put into an assassin training program where all her skills were honed, including seduction and killing.
Some of that is discussed in this movie that may not make Black Widow safe for your kids.
There is not any sex or nudity on the screen in Black Widow (though there is some language suggesting a romantic interlude), however, there are graphic discussions of the specific training the Widows were subjected to.
One particular discussion delves into the women’s forced hysterectomies- it’s matter of fact and the ladies do not hold back their disgust about what happened to them.
There is an overall dark tone set early on in the film when the girls and parents are separated. These scenes pack a powerful punch and can bring up some abandonment issues for children.
This is highly uncomfortable and heartbreaking to watch as children appear trafficked and transported against their will.
This would be a scene your young children may not understand, but would certainly fear and have questions about.
I’d say this is the most non-kid friendly of the Marvel movies due to this very adult subject matter.
What Ages Can Watch Black Widow?
We typically are generous with the PG-13 ratings for movies in a franchise like this. If your kids have seen Marvel movies before, usually they are going to be ok for kids to watch the newest installment (see F9 safe for kids parent review as an example).
But is this one ok for kids? What ages can watch Black Widow?
Black Widow is fairly long, clocking in at 2 hours 14 minutes.
That might be too long for younger kids to sit through, regardless of the subject matter. But the subject matter is what really puts the pause on things for this character’s story.
We’re going to stick with the PG-13 age range for most families for Black Widow.
10 and up can watch Black Widow if you are prepared to pause and explain a few things because there will be some questions. A lot of questions. Because this movie packs an emotional punch for all ages, and certainly may be harder for younger children to understand the content.
