About Marvel’s Eternals

Marvel Studios’ Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants.

Watch the Eternals trailer here. And get to know the Eternals here: Who are the Eternals?

Are There End Credit Scenes In Eternals?

YES. And if you’ve been on social media, you might have been spoiled by some of the details already.

Oh- we said BOTH. There are two end credit scenes to stick around for. One at the very end of the credits, so go ahead and sit through the whole thing until the end.

And they are EPIC, so you do not want to miss them.

If you are new to Marvel movies, this is “a thing” you do: stay in your seat until the final credit rolls so you don’t miss a thing!

Is Marvel’s Eternals Safe For Kids? Parent Movie Guide and Review

There is something about a superhero movie that kids just love.

And by kids: I mean kids 3 to 99 because let’s be real: the adults are just as big of fans as the children!

The Eternals are probably a new superhero team for your kids- and for you! But spoiler: we think they are AWESOME.

And because this is the next big installment in the Marvel Movies in order, your kids are probably asking if they can see the movie.

In this parent movie guide and review, we’ll cover the language, violence, sex, and nudity levels in the movie to help you decide if Eternals is kid-friendly and safe for kids.

We’ll also talk about the PG-13 rating and how that may affect your decision on what ages Eternals is appropriate for.

If you need to catch up, watch these Marvel Movies!

Is Eternals Safe For Kids? Language

The language feels appropriate for these characters and situations, but it may not make Eternals appropriate for younger kids in your household.

We didn’t catch the use of the F-bomb or anything with G-d used, but there were a few instances of more mild swears throughout the movie. We heard sh!t, d@mn, d@mnit, @ss, and h@ll. Stupid is also said.

Flipping the bird also happens.

Overall, there have been worse Marvel movies when it comes to language.

Violence: What Ages Can Watch Eternals? Is It Ok For Kids?

There’s a lot of action in this movie.

Big monsters called Deviants and roaming the earth and causing a lot of problems for the people. And the Eternals are there to fight and kill them.

The weapons used are mystical and clearly not real in most cases, but there are uses of traditional guns and knives at times.

The Eternals fight hand-to-hand combat against these Deviants throughout the movie, and there’s a fair amount of property destruction that goes along with it.

While overall the Deviant fights don’t result in too much blood or gore, there are a few instances where you get some bloody, shocking moments in these fight scenes. It’s not the main focus of the movie, but there are times where “ewww” happens if this is a concern for your family.

Is Eternals Kid-Friendly: Sex and Nudity

There is an actual sex scene in a Marvel movie– gasp! It’s short, but please be aware this movie does have one.

And truthfully, it’s absolutely pointless.

The characters are seen passionately kissing and then lying naked on top of each other in the sand. There is some movement that indicates sex is occurring, but its not explicit nor is it revealing.

Bare shoulders, arms and a back are seen, but nothing too revealing or shocking happens.

If you are looking for a good time to pee during Eternals with your kids, this is one of them. You can leave when the kissing starts around 28 minutes in.

Is Eternals Too Scary For Kids?

Eternals falls into the category of “weird Marvel,” so there are some moments that might be a bit scary for younger kids.

The Deviants are pretty big and creepy!

They have rope-like appendages, multiple eyes, and a mouthful of teeth that keep these bad guys on the “do not like!” list for us. And they definitely cause death and destruction throughout the movie.

Is Eternals too scary for kids?

It might be, depending on how well your child does with mythical monsters.

If they don’t seem phased by creatures, this probably won’t scare them overall. But sensitive kids who do have a harder time separating fake from reality when it comes to

What Does PG-13 Means For Eternals?

Ultimately, Eternals gets a PG-13 rating for violence and language.

We feel much of the language could have been removed to try for a PG rating, but toning down the action sequences would have been harder to do. They do get a bit repetitive, so that might have been a choice but here we are.

Ultimately it’s a fair rating that lets parents know this isn’t The Paw Patrol Movie, and there are things you should be aware of before letting young kids watch.

If your kids have seen the other Marvel movies, then they are likely good to go with Eternals. Unless sex in movies is off the table for your family.

Proceed with caution, but have a great time seeing this one on the biggest screen you can.

What Ages Are Appropriate for Eternals?

We think Eternals is ok from a content perspective for ages 9 and up, especially if they have seen previous Marvel movies. Again: with the important note of the sex scene.

However, this movie is long and plodding. This means it’s a little different in tone and scope than previous Marvel movies.

So what ages are appropriate for Eternals? Is Eternals safe for kids? And can younger kids watch Eternals?

Yes.

Will they want to?

Mmmm… maybe not.

This movie is LONG and without the usual cast of superheroes showing up, your kids may lose interest.

A mature 9 should be good to go, but we don’t recommend this one for the younger crowd.

If you do take them to the theater, be sure to check out the best times to pee during Marvel’s Eternals so you don’t miss an important moment!
