Are There End Credit Scenes In Ghostbusters: Afterlife?
There are!
You want to stick around for both of them for some more cameos from the past.
If you are waiting for one person in particular to make an appearance: this is when it happens.
Is Ghostbusters: Afterlife Safe For Kids? Parent Movie Review
Gen X parents have Gen Z kiddos wanting to bust some ghosts, just like we did back in the day!
With Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, and Paul Rudd starring in this one, going to the movies as a family may seem like a no-brainer.
But is Ghostbusters: Afterlife safe for kids to watch?
This parent movie review will lay out the details about language, sex, nudity, violence, and adult content to help you decide if this Ghostbusters is kid-friendly for your home.
Is Ghostbusters Afterlife Safe For Kids: Language
Language gets a little saucy in Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
Swear words like @ss hole, sh!t, sh!t box, d@mmit, d@mn, and h@ll are used.
There are also phrases including ‘oh my g-d’, virgin sacrifices, and talking about “boning”.
Overall, it’s not terrible, but it isn’t totally clean either.
Violence In Ghostbusters Afterlife
Most of the violence is based on a supernatural level, so depending on how your kids handle that kind of topic will determine if this one is ok for them to watch.
A man is torn in half in a cartoonish kind of way- that kind of thing is what you’ll see in this movie.
There is also a death of a grandparent that’s discussed, so anyone who might be experiencing that sort of loss may be particularly triggered by this mention.
Briefly on-screen clips from the movies Cujo and Child’s Play are shown- nothing dwelled upon or too gory or violent, but it does happen in the background.
Is Ghostbusters Afterlife Ok For Kids? Sex and Nudity
The original Ghostbusters of the 80s was more raunchy than I think Gen X kids ever realized!
Thankfully, Ghostbusters: Afterlife takes pains to skate much cleaner to earn that PG-13 rating.
There are sexual innuendos and references that happen in dialogue. See above about virginity references (though not explained).
There is a scene where sex is indicated, but it does not happen on screen.
How Scary Is Ghostbusters: Afterlife?
Relying on jump scares and scary-looking CGI ghosts, Ghostbusters: Afterlife does have a few tense moments!
Children are put into perilous situations that could be intense for the younger crowd.
While most of the violence is a slapstick variety, young children could be scared by the realistic-looking CGI.
What wasn’t super scary in the 80s has certainly become more realistic as technology progressed!
But overall, if they have seen the original Ghostbusters, we think Ghostbusters Afterlife won’t be too scary for them.
What Ages Are Appropriate For Ghostbusters: Afterlife?
We are pleasantly surprised with how fun and kid-friendly Ghostbusters: Afterlife is!
Maybe that’s because we can’t help but compare to the slightly more permissive 80s movie, but we think kids ages 9 and up can handle watching Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
