Is Scream 2022 Too Scary For Kids? Parent Movie Review
Watching scary movies with your teens and tweens might be on your movie night list.
But is this one going a bit too far for teens and tweens to watch?
Is the next Ghostface movie- Scream 2022 too scary for kids in your household?
This parent movie guide will help you decide what ages can watch Scream 5 and what the language, violence, and sex/nudity levels are in the movie.
Is Scream Kid-Friendly? Language In The Movie
It’s a safe bet if you are considering watching this one with your kids, you aren’t too worried about language.
Which is good because there’s a ton of language in this one!
There are quite a few instances where the F-bomb is dropped, as well as other situations where minor curse words like sh!t and h@ll are used. The Lord’s name is used frequently as a swear in the forms of Jesus & G-d D@mn.
And ‘quite a few’ is being kind: we’re talking something over 50 F-bombs before we stopped counting. Scream 5 is not playing around when it comes to language.
There is a lot of language, but it also seems to be appropriately used: if Ghostface was coming after any of us, we’re pretty sure the swears would be FLYING!
Sex and Nudity: Is Scream 2022 Ok For Kids?
There’s not any sex or nudity in Scream 5 which is rare for a teen-themed horror movie.
There is plenty of talk about sex and sexual innuendo, but no nudity or sex is seen on screen.
Characters do passionately kiss, but that’s as far as things go in Scream 2022. It’s fairly teen-friendly on this level.
Before you start thinking, oh, maybe Scream 2022 is ok for kids to watch… read on.
Is Scream 2022 Too Scary For Kids? Violence and Gore In Scream 5
Unless your child plans on being the next John Carpenter or Wes Craven, keep the kids at home.
This movie is extremely violent, gory, and explicit when it comes to brutal ways to end someone’s life. Even if your kids have seen the other Scream movies, this one might be too much for them.
Because it’s A LOT.
We felt Halloween Kills was a bit more gory and gratuitous when it came to violence, but Scream 2022 is no Disney movie.
But if getting scared is right up your alley, read this post to know when you can pee during Scream 2022 so you don’t miss the bloody moments that are important to you.
What Ages Can Watch Scream 2022?
If your teens and tweens have seen any of the previous Scream movies (1-4!), they will likely be ok with Scream 5.
Ages 14 and up should be able to handle the scares and blood that this movie provides as long as they have been exposed to similar movies in the past.
Scream 2022 leans heavily on the past Scream movies (especially the original from 1996). As a parent, you are probably most familiar with that one.
Scream 2022 is most in line with the original movie as far as what ages can watch this one.
