June Movie Releases And Dates
June Movie Release Dates: June 7
Dark Phoenix
It’s the newest X-Men movie, and there’s not a lot of good hype around this one. The franchise fans will go see it, duh, and I hope they are happy with it on some level. Nothing stinks more fangirl disappointment!
“Dark Phoenix” focuses on the popular comic series of the same name and Jean Grey turns into an unstoppable killing machine. Eeep!
There’s been a bit of social media push around this movie, and I’m guessing they are just trying to get out front of Toy Story 4 which comes out a few weeks later.
With a new voice actor for Max (Patton Oswalt) the sequel will probably be as big a hit as the first. Oh- and Harrison Ford is in his first animated film, can you believe it?
Late Night
Mindy Kaling, Emma Thompson- what’s not to love here? At least I’m hoping to love this one since I adore both these actresses. It opens in a few theaters on June 7th but nationwide on June 14.
A late-night talk show host’s world is turned upside down when she hires her first and only female staff writer. Originally intended to smooth over diversity concerns, her decision brings about unexpectedly hilarious consequences as the two women who are separated by culture and generation become united by their love of a biting punchline.
Last Black Man in San Francisco
Jimmie and his best friend Mont try to reclaim the house built by Jimmie’s grandfather, launching them on a poignant odyssey that connects them to their past, even as it tests their friendship and sense of belonging in the place they call home.

Men In Black: International
Chris Hemsworth is funny- and Tessa Thompson is AH-Mazing, so, yeah, this is an easy ticket for me to buy! I loved them together in Thor: Ragnarok and the bits we saw of them together in Avengers: Endgame.
Hemsworth and Thompson star as Agent H and Agent M, who employ high-tech weaponry to battle mischievous aliens on Earth. However, the pair also discover a major threat within their own ranks.
Shaft
Please tell me you’re singing the song. Even if you are too young to have seen the movie (I was too!) you GOTTA love the Shaft theme song.
You had me at Samuel L. Jackson.
When his best friend dies under mysterious circumstances, an FBI cyber security expert joins forces with his father — the legendary cop John Shaft — to scour the streets of Harlem, N.Y., and uncover the truth.
The Dead Don’t Die
Also on the list of “I hadn’t heard of this before… but hey there, you’ve got my attention.” A little zombie movie for your summer viewing!
In the sleepy small town of Centerville, something is not quite right. The moon hangs large and low in the sky, the hours of daylight are becoming unpredictable, and animals are beginning to exhibit unusual behaviors. News reports are scary, and scientists are concerned, but no one foresees the strangest and most dangerous repercussion that will soon start plaguing Centerville: the dead rise from their graves and feast on the living, and the citizens must battle to survive.

Child’s Play
Remake- reboot- whatever, it’s probably going to make money. I saw the original in the theater and laughed more than jumped, so hopefully, there are some better scares in this one!
After moving to a new city, young Andy Barclay receives a special present from his mother — a seemingly innocent Buddi doll that becomes his best friend. When the doll suddenly takes on a life of its own, Andy unites with other neighborhood children to stop the sinister toy from wreaking bloody havoc.
Toy Story 4
From terrifying toys to happy toys, here we go again with Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 4.
I’m of the opinion that we probably could have moved on after Toy Story 3, but… hey, I love Pixar. So I know I’ll be in theaters for this next Toy Story installment with a big old grin on my face and probably some tissues in my hand. Because: Pixar.
The voice cast returns, with fantastic additions of Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, and Keanu Reeves.
June Movie Release Dates: June 26
Annabelle Comes Home
Opens on a Wednesday. Eh- why not?
Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren lock the possessed doll in the artifacts room in their house. But when the doll awakens the room’s evil spirits, it soon becomes an unholy night of terror for the couple’s 10-year-old daughter, her friends and their young baby sitter.
