About Muppets Now
“Muppets Now” is The Muppets Studio’s first unscripted series and first original series for Disney+.
In the six-episode season, Scooter rushes to make his delivery deadlines and upload the brand-new Muppet series for streaming.
They are due now, and he’ll need to navigate whatever obstacles, distractions, and complications the rest of the Muppet gang throws at him.
Muppets Now Parent Review
Parents: remember when it was time to play the music, time to light the lights!
I know you do.
So it’s 2020, we’re all a lot older, a little greyer and we’re not in a theater anymore. But the Muppets are still funny, clever, and entertaining with the help of celebrity visits.
No question, children of the 80s: the charm and belly laughs from our own childhood make a comeback in the Disney+ limited series, Muppets Now.
It’s slick and silly and a little out there at times- but all in good ways and probably is just what we needed this summer.
Bottom line: your kids are going to love it- and you won’t mind watching it with them, either!
Modern Laughs With Muppets Now
Scooter has the task of keeping the show running in its new, streaming format.
And as any streamer knows, the show must go on- even with last-minute additions and edits.
The familiar format of celebrity guests intermixing into the segments is back but with a YouTube-esque design to appeal to the kids of today.
And for the most part, this modern format works and brings some cheery satisfaction in a time of never-ending change and weirdness.
The series is self-aware and smart; Kermit even has a tea-sipping moment that had me howling.
But it doesn’t stray so far from the Muppets of old that we Gen X parents grew up on.
The familiar characters give the -ahem- older fans enough nostalgia to hold onto, even in the new, slick updated format.
The skits are hilarious and your family will find some laugh out loud moments to bond over.
And in this time of way too much togetherness, we’ll take all the extra laughs we can get!
Muppets Now come to Disney+ on July 31, 2020.
