Parents Guide For The Life Of A Showgirl (Taylor Swift) UPDATE!

Parents of young Swifties, this one is for you. Taylor’s songwriting has come a long way from her innocent writing on her debut album. There are more mature themes, more explicit writing, and more curse words used in her albums. If this is a concern for you as a parent, then check out the parents guide for The Life of a Showgirl by Taylor Swift.

The Official Release Party of A Showgirl- Movie

Just announced on September 19, Taylor Swift is holding a 3 day special event at movie theaters around the world.

I’m calling it the Secret Sessions for the World (2025 Taylor’s Version).

If you’re considering taking your kids to this movie, please note. According to Taylor Nation, lyric videos will be included in the movie.

The Official #TSReleasePartyofaShowgirl is coming to theaters! 📽️ Watch the exclusive world premiere of “The Fate of Ophelia” music video with behind-the-scenes footage, plus new lyric videos and the stories behind each song from #TSTheLifeofaShowgirl.

This means if your children can read, they will see as well as hear any concerning language.

ETA: At the theater now. It appears they are using the edited versions. For father figure, it was the “checks bigger” not “d!cks bigger” for example. If you have younger kiddos going, they should be just fine to watch, listen and read the lyrics.

Here’s an example of a lyric video:

The Life Of A Showgirl Parents Guide

Why do I write this content? It’s not to point out or shame the artist in any way. It’s simply to help parents determine what is best for their children.

My personal stance: I do not think Taylor Swift or any artist should edit their art; drop all the F-bombs and suggestive lyrics you need to, Tay! I am SAT for it. Full support, and I’m ready to listen to it all and sing along with you.

But I’m also a very grown adult. Not all of Taylor Swift’s fanbase fit that description.

I believe parents should research whether they are comfortable with their very young children singing along to certain songs. If you are cool with an 8-year-old scream singing F@ck the Patriarchy, that’s perfectly fine for your household. Absolutely no judgment here!

But the reality is that many parents aren’t ready for that vocabulary for small children. And that’s why I created this parents’ guide to Taylor Swift new songs.

Is The Life Of A Showgirl Kid-friendly? Parents Guide

Is The Life of a Showgirl kid-friendly and appropriate for your children? Listen, that’s only something you can decide. As a parent, I think you should listen to and read the album lyrics when they come out to make that judgment.

I will update this information as soon as the songs are available in their complete form.

From what I can tell so far, there are songs that contain explicit words and some that seem to have sexual connotations. Taylor has updated the tracklists with explicit tags as of September 26, 2025.

The Life of a Showgirl off stage is what is being portrayed on this album, and just as a reminder, this is a 35-year-old woman in a long-term relationship. We’re not going to shame her for anything around here!
