About Trolls Band Together (2023)
After two films of true friendship and relentless flirting, Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake) are now officially, finally, a couple (#broppy)!
As they grow closer, Poppy discovers that Branch has a secret past.
He was once part of her favorite boyband phenomenon, BroZone, with his four brothers: Floyd (Golden Globe nominated electropop sensation Troye Sivan), John Dory (Eric André; Sing 2), Spruce (Grammy winner Daveed Diggs; Hamilton) and Clay (Grammy winner Kid Cudi; Don’t Look Up).
BroZone disbanded when Branch was still a baby, as did the family, and Branch hasn’t seen his brothers since.
But when Branch’s bro Floyd is kidnapped for his musical talents by a pair of nefarious pop-star villains—Velvet (Emmy winner Amy Schumer; Trainwreck) and Veneer (Grammy winner and Tony nominee Andrew Rannells; The Book of Mormon)—Branch and Poppy embark on a harrowing and emotional journey to reunite the other brothers and rescue Floyd from a fate even worse than pop-culture obscurity.

Trolls Band Together Age Rating: What Ages Can Really Watch This One?
Trolls Band Together is rated PG for suggestive and mild rude humor. But does that mean it’s safe for your kids to watch? We’ll break it down.
Age Rating of Trolls Band Together: Parents Guide (7 Big Things)
Can your kids watch this one? What is the age rating of Trolls Band Together?
This parent’s guide will help you decide if your family can handle the seven big issues with movies and shows: mature topics, gore, violence, language, sex, romance, and nudity. We’ll also give the Trolls Band Together age rating and age-appropriate recommendations.
Photosensitivity Warning
There is a scene that could cause some concerns for this with sensitivities. It happens near the end of the movie.
Language
Trolls Band Together has some mild language in it, but overall, it isn’t too crazy.
Your kids will hear:
- h@ll
- heck
- poop, pee
- suck, sucks, sucked
- OMG (once)
- and Oh My Gosh, more frequently
- making out and being “tied up” are innuendo comments that are said as well, probably going over most kids heads
It’s not terrible from a swear word perspective, but there are some words your younger kids may be surprised to hear. Or not, because little kids do love poop humor!
Age Rating of Trolls Band Together: Is It Safe For Teens When It Comes To Sex, Romance, and Nudity?
It’s a cartoon, so thankfully there’s nothing super shocking on a sexual level.
A pair of newlyweds kiss frequently, talk about making out- and then do it.
There’s hand-holding and kissing between romantic partners.
Regarding nudity in Trolls Band Together, you’ll see bare troll buns as one character puts on a diaper (as an adult- its part of a costume).
There are some sexual innuendo comments and jokes that probably will not be tracked by younger kids, but you may also get asked, “what does junk in the trunk mean?”
Violence and Gore: Is Trolls Band Together Too Scary For Kids Under 10?
Characters are in peril throughout the movie, with one fairly intense chase scene.
One character is seen being essentially tortured as the villains try to siphon the talent from him. This leads to him losing his luster and spark and ultimately makes it look like he died (he does not).
There are some references to things like puking, pooping and a visual instance of pink eye that’s kinda gross but nothing too alarming on the gore scale.
Is Trolls Band Together Ok For Kids: Mature Topics
Characters drink what appear to be adult alcoholic cocktails.
Themes of family, grief, loss, and forgiveness are prevalent.
This movie is about family- and, well, families can be messy.
Trolls Band Together Parents Guide: Is Appropriate For Kids Under 10?
As always, you know your kids best.
If they’ve seen the other Trolls movies without issue, you’ll be find taking them to the theater this weekend.
I’d say Trolls Band Together is safe for kids 6 and up for the most part. With a 92 minute run time, it also hits the right span for those kids who can’t sit still too long!
End Credits In Trolls Band Together: YES
There is a mid-credit scene you may want to sit through! Plus a little extra one-liner at the very end of the credits, but we don’t think you need to make the kids sit all the way through for that one.
